OI Analytical 4551A Purge-and-Trap Water Autosampler
Automated VOC Analysis of Up to 51 Water Samples
The OI Analytical 4551A Autosampler is designed for use with the Eclipse 4660 Purge-and-Trap Sample Concentrator for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in clean or lightly particulated water samples. The system automatically transfers samples from standard 40 mL VOA vials to the sparge vessel of the Eclipse 4660 for purging. A removable spiral tray holds up to 51 sample vials for unattended operation. Optional automated addition of internal and surrogate standards supports quality control requirements.
Automated Sample Transfer for VOC Water Analysis
The OI Analytical 4551A Autosampler is programmed through the touchscreen display of the Eclipse 4660. During operation, sample vials are moved sequentially beneath a sampling needle. The needle pierces the vial septum, after which the vial is pressurized with inert gas. The sample is transferred to a calibrated sample loop and subsequently delivered to the sparge vessel of the Eclipse 4660 for analysis.
After completion of the sample desorption step, the system automatically drains the sample and performs a user-programmed number of rinses of the sample pathway and sparge vessel. An optional Standards Addition Module (SAM) can automatically add internal and/or surrogate standards to specified samples. The system is designed to transfer water samples containing light particulates (<100 µm) without clogging.
